چکیده

Objective: To compare the frequency of a good functional outcome in unstable per-trochanteric fractures fixed with dynamic hip screw and proximal femoral nail using Harris Hip Score. Methodology: A comparative study was conducted at Department Orthopaedic Surgery, Pakistan Institute Medical Sciences, Islamabad, from June to December 2021. total 80 patients femur were selected divided into two groups based on surgical procedure performed: or nail. comprehensive history thorough examination performed for all during scheduled follow-up visits. Patients called assessments 1 month 3 months evaluate outcomes Results: The mean age 58.73±6.78 years. At 3-month follow-up, Score significantly higher group compared (84.64±7.05 vs. 73.9±12.53; p = 0.005). proportion (Harris ≥ 70 points) (97.5% 72.5%, 0.002). Conclusion: In this study, demonstrated superior group. use fixation can provide better facilitate an earlier return pre-injury status patients.

Type II Intertrochanteric Fractures: Proximal Femoral Nailing (PFN) Versus Dynamic Hip Screw(DHS)

Background: Intertrochanteric fracture is one of the most common fractures of the hip especially in the elderly with osteoporotic bones, usually due to low-energy trauma like simple falls. Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) is still considered the gold standard for treating intertrochanteric fractures by many. Not many studies compare the DHS with Proximal femoral nail (PFN), in Type II intertrochanteri...

Management of Pertrochanteric Fractures with Proximal Femoral Nail and Comparison of Results with Dynamic Hip Screw

Introduction: Proximal Femoral Nail and Dynamic Hip Screw, both are the accepted implants for the internal fixation of Pertrochanteric fractures. Objectives of the research were to compare the results of proximal femoral nail and dynamic hip screw in terms of functional mobility of the patients and the results would also be compared in terms of operating time, peri-operative blood loss, radiolo...

Proximal femoral locking plate versus dynamic hip screw for unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures.

PURPOSE To compare the outcome in patients who underwent surgery for unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures using the proximal femoral locking plate versus the dynamic hip screw (DHS). METHODS 15 men and 5 women aged 32 to 78 (mean, 55) years were randomised to the proximal femoral locking plate group, whereas 14 men and 6 women aged 38 to 75 (mean, 59) years were randomised to the conv...

Proximal Femoral Nail versus Dynamic Hip Screw Fixation for Trochanteric Fractures: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

BACKGROUND The purpose of this meta-analysis was to find out whether the proximal femoral nail was better than the dynamic hip screw in the treatment of trochanteric fractures with respect to operation time, blood transfusion, hospital stay, wound complications, number of reoperation, and mortality rate. METHODS All randomized controlled trials comparing proximal femoral nail and dynamic hip ...
